MG Double Page Spread Final Product

This is my double page spread at the start. I have found a union jack to give the magazine that bit of britishness again.

I have now turned the union jack green because the background is supposed to be green but at the same time can have the union jack. I have added a title to it with some informal mistakes again with “da” and “av” instead of “the” and “have”. I have also added an interview with the DJ and used red for the questions and white for his responses; this relates to the front cover when it says “I am English” by using white and red.

I have now added an image of the DJ and put a little advertisement above which relates to him; I have seen this in other magazines so I have also done it. It also relates to the start when it says “Nottingham is da city” because it mentions a chance to see him live at Nottingham.

MG Contents Page Final Product

This is my contents page. I have mixed a green and black background because after playing around I found this background to be good. I have put Contents as normal in green and put a drop shadow on it.

I have now added my contents in red and put on an image of the DJ to relate it to the front cover.

I have now added another image of the DJ as well putting a red glow around both of the images to make the look better. I have also added a competition on the bottom to see him live and added the page number to it.

MG Front Cover Final Product

For my final front cover I have put a bright green background with it having a white glow in the centre; this makes the image stand out more. I have put my masthead as normal but now I have put the images head overlapping some of the masthead; this is because I see this a lot in other magazines and also makes the image stand out more. I have used a medium shot because this is the most common shot in music magazines. I have put “Nottingham is da city” because the front cover often says things like this that will appear later in the magazine. I have wrote “da” instead of “the” because it’s informal and it relates the target audience; listeners to techno music.

Now I have added my barcode and put on the issue number and the date. I have added more text now showing more of what will be inside. Where it says “stokes #1 club” I have seen this before in other magazines and used it because it stands out a lot. I have also put a page number to it. I have put on the front “Propa’ British Techno” because I my target audience will be British and I want them to feel that this is the magazine for them.

To finish my final product I have put on the slogan at the top because I think it looks good between T and h. I have added the DJ’s name which is the image of on the front and also put “I am English” to relate the DJ to the audience again and it give it a bit of Britishness.

The background is a mix of green and brown because these 2 colours go well together. I have put 2 images in these places because later the text will come in

I have added the page numbers and some of the text which I have putting in the same colours again; orange, green and red.

I have added the last of the text.

MG 2nd Double Page Spread Mock-up

This is my second double page spread. This time my background goes form a darker green on the left side to a brighter green on the right. Instead of having a green title I have gone for a red 1 with an orange outline just because a lot of my mock-ups are almost the same. The image I have used is a medium shot and I have erased the background.

I have now added the page numbers and added a background to the text and also put some text to the left side to take up some of the space.

To finish with I have put in an interview in green to take up the last of the empty space on the left side.

MG 1st Double Page Spread Mock-up

This is my first double page spread. My left page has the close up image and most of my text is on the right page. I have put a title on “club of the year” because quite a bit of the double page spread is about Lokes as you can see underneath it. I have put an orange drop shadow on the title to make it stand out more and green and orange together are a party type of combination.

I have moved the title more to the centre in order to combine the 2 pages and I have also put a bit of the green background on the right over to the left. I have added a lot more text now including “what everyone’s talking about” which I have seen in other magazines. Again most of my colours are green and red as they are throughout without the exception of a bit of orange now and again and brown.

I have now added page numbers in orange and put in an interview. I have moved more of the stuff about Lokes over to the right and put an orange background behind them because I have also seen this in other magazines. A bit of the stuff about Lokes has some red behind to make that bit stand out and over to the left side there is another bit about Lokes to further combine the 2 pages and take up some empty space.

MG 3rd Contents Page Mock-up

This is my third contents page. I have gone for a green background with many different greens. This time I have not put Tech on and have just put Contents. I have put 3 images on this; 2 close ups and a medium shot.

I have put my contents on now with the greater part been bright green and the page numbers orange.

I have now added the page number in red and put a black outline on the contents because they were difficult to read with the background.

I have gone for a very basic contents page this time. I have just a close up image and the masthead tech at the top left.

I have added my contents now and put the greater part in bright green and the page numbers in a darker green. I have also moved Tech to the middle and put contents underneath it.

To finish I have put a page number in blue.

This is my first contents page. I have put the background a dark green and also put a white glow to the top left to make tech contents stand out. The larger parts of my contents are in green and the page numbers are in red.

I have put a page number on now in orange so now I have a good mix of colours and I have also put a few images on the contents page to make it seem less boring. At the bottom I have put on a competition that links the car on the front cover and also put a lot of it in black and put the key words in red.

Finally I have put some few different colour glows on the images and also put an orange background to the competition below.

MG 3rd Front Cover Mock-up

This is my magazine at the early stages. It is a very similar start to the 2nd front cover I made but the “and much more” now says “turn over for more” and I have laid it out differently.

Here I have mainly changed a lot of the green to red because people were telling me there was too much green.

I have moved a lot of the things around here. I have moved the barcode to the bottom left again and also put the issue number and date there. The largest change I have done is to move the “turn over for more” to the right side; this is because I have seen this in magazines. Finally I have moved the advertisement to the bottom because it didn’t look right with the changes and it also takes up a lot of the empty space at the bottom.

MG 2nd Front Cover Mock-up

This is my second front cover. I have used the same image as on my first front cover except I have taken out the background. This happens a lot in music magazines. I have used the same mastheads colour and font because they are both preferred. I have put the barcode at the top right to take up the large amount of space there. My advertisement now has a small background to it to stand out and also I have put Lokes in capitals so the name of the club stands out. I have put the slogan underneath the banner because I think it looks better here and takes up some of the space above. My introduction is again on the left side and I have made the text large so it takes up a lot of the space. On the bottom left I put “and much more” to try to interest the reader to read on.

This is my magazine later on. I have put in a green background on and also split the top of the magazine with the greater part with a white line and then put a brown border around the greater part. I have also changed the background of the and much more part and changed the text colour to a brighter green because I can get more colours in this way and make the magazine appear less boring. I have also put the barcode to the bottom left and made it smaller because you see this more on other magazines. I have also made the introduction and the barcode smaller so the image stands out more which it should. I have also moved my slogan more to the left so less of the image is covered over again.

This is my magazine later on again. I have changed my slogan to red just to try to get more colours in again. Around “Lokes has it all” I have put a bit of orange to it to make it stand out more and to put more colour in. to take up the space on the bottom I have put in a competition to win a car and put in about there been posters in the back.
